Interim Chief Executive Officer

Sector: Education & Training
Location: Sydney, NSW

Our client is a very successful professional education and training business founded some 20 years ago. With annualised growth of 15% year-on-year, the business today has 20 full-time staff and turns over $5 million annually. After successfully pivoting from delivering in-person-only training to 100% online training when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, the founders are developing a Digital Services offering and positioning the business for sale.

Issue:

The General Manager appointed to ready the business the sale proved to be a poor fit and was exited. As the founders wished to take a step back from actively running the business, they approached EIM for an Interim CEO who would be amenable to join the business on a permanent basis should the new owners wish it.

Solution:

Within a matter of days, EIM appointed an Interim Executive with an influential and engaging leadership style and a proven management track record in a similar style of business. With a clear focus on positioning the business for sale, the Interim CEO improved processes and systems, drove business development, and led the implementation of the new Digital Services revenue stream. Through a 9-month assignment, the Interim Executive sold the business for 50% over the initial asking price of the Founders.
