CASE STUDY CATEGORIES

Chief Information Officer

Sector: Education (Tertiary)
Location: Sydney, NSW

Our client is a leading tertiary institution in Sydney. Deeply committed to research and innovation, they view themselves as an inclusive university committed to sharing and disseminating knowledge of public value.

Recently, the institution appointed a new Chief Operations Officer (COO) with the remit to manage all operations outside of research and education and ensure it is a world-class educational institution. Consequently, there is a large portfolio of ‘in-flight’ work with a significant amount in the technology space.

Issue:

The resignation of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) was unexpected. While there are exceptional operators in the Technology team of approximately 600 employees and contractors, the COO believed the team needed the right leader to provide clear direction on implementing the significant transformation around process, systems, and people. EIM was contacted to provide an Interim CIO who could deliver huge transformational change rather than incremental improvements.

Solution:

EIM produced an Interim Executive with a successful track record as a CIO in a significant organisation and well experienced in large transformation programs. Exercising patience and engagement, the Interim CIO coached, led, and aligned the Technology team with the digitisation change strategy to provide a productive and enjoyable digital experience for both students and staff.
